We have had lots of fun debating the issue of trains this week, linking the coming of the railway to Horsham in the Victoria era to the current HS2 debate. Your task is to clearly and persuasively argue your point on this page. Are you in favour of the HS2 high speed train route, or do you think it is a terrible idea? I think that HS2 is a bad idea because instead of updating the original railway lines the goverment is spending billions of pounds on new lines that will just put other train companies out of buisness!!!
I do think that it is also a bad idea as they are spending too much money on them and updated lines and we could just spend it on different things that we need!!!

If you disagree with this plan, thank you for realizing the horrible damage it can do to many people’s lives. It will destroy the country side if it does run through that beautiful scenery, and everything seems to be appearing over night. I just have to think, have they thought this through enough? I think that the HS2 is a really bad idea and I think it should be stopped as soon as possible. Think of all that money people are wasting on something they’ll not use as much as the normal day-to-day rail lines we use now. The money could be used on something most people care about like children’s education. STOP THE HS2 !!!!!! Maddie and Lucy.

I think HS2 is a good idea because it’s an hour quicker and it’s like having another hour in our sats test and when we are older we can have a bigger lie in bed. I feel sorry for the man who is going to get his pub knocked down if it happens. HS2 will bring the future to the UK. I reckon after that they will start a new whole subject like a flying car. I think that the HS 2 is a great idea it will get you to your destination a lot faster than a normal train can!!!
I think it is a good idea as the current lines are quite slow and are getting very busy. Part of the reason I think it’s good is because I might use it traveling up to Manchester.

I think it is a bad idea because they are wasting money that could be spent on getting better health care and nurses,paying them better.Would you rather have something to get you around quicker or, say you had a serious accident, you be nursed back to health by a specially trained nurse? By Anna
